April 2000- Miller-St.Pierre 1

The Miller-St. Pierre Family
Lizette, 67, Lucius, 17, and Lysandra, 17

Narrated by Lysandra

It's been hard dealing with the losses of both Mom and Barbara. It was such a shock losing them both so quickly. First, Mom had a heart attack and then Barbara got sick... in six months they were both gone. It's been almost two years now and things are nearly back to normal. Well, at least as normal as they can get when you're missing a mother and a sister. Mother has thrown herself into her work but Luc and I don't mind. We like having the freedom of not needing to check in all the time.

Of course, being the last two kids at home has been getting very boring. We never used to have to go out of our way to find entertainment, it would come to us, but now that everyone has moved out and is beginning their adult lives we're kind of lagging behind. This fall when we head to college Priscilla, Ophélie, and Isidora will already have graduated so it will still be just the two of us. Next year our niece (it's so weird to call her that), Evangelina, will join us so that should make thing's a little more interesting. We've only just met and started hanging out with her. Our sister Elisabet had her while in highschool and let her other mother, Philippa, raise her since she was a little older and more capable at the time. Now that Libby is in a long term relationship (I think she's been with him about seven years) and starting to think about having a kid with Oliver she wanted to reconnect with Evangelina.

Since we're close in age Luc and I have decide to help Libby out with makign Evangelina feel welcome. We went to a local teen club one day recently and invited her along. I like her just fine but I don't feel like we a lot to talk about. She and Luc seemed to hit it off really well, though. They played some pool,

And talked a bit,

He told her all about our family and she seemed excited to hear this stuff. I find it all very boring, but I was raised in the family and she wasn't. I guess it makes sense for her to be excited to learn all this new information.

When my darling brother wasn't telling Evangelina how awesome our family was he told a couple girls from school, Adara Cook and Alcippe Brindley, all about it. Or well, he told Adara all about it, I doubt he and Alcippe were talking much about our family.

It's kind of fun hanging out at the club. We get to meet some kids from school that we don't tend to have classes with and there were even a couple middle schoolers there. I talked to one of the eight graders, Angelica O'Sullivan, a bit and she really seemed to like having someone older to talk to.

I haven't spent much time with younger kids, I have one niece who is 13, Brenna, but other than her all of the kids in the family are babies. Well, Schuyler and Jocelyn are. Our other niece, Cassidy, is older than we are! (That's just how things happen when you have a brother that is almost 40 years older than you.) But I'm finding I really like getting to know them and talk to them. I spent my lunch talking to a ninth grader, Anya Olmstead, and I'm finding their views of the world really fascinating. It's making me wonder if maybe I should start considering something other than dancing for a career. Maybe something in the social work lines, or even starting my own Big Brother/Big Sister type of organization. It could pair older teens with younger teens or college students with teenagers so they have someone closer in age to confide in and turn to when they need help.

I'll have to give that all more thought, maybe I'll wait on declaring a major when I go to school... On another note, Luc taught me how to play chess. It wasn't nearly as complicated as I'd expected.

On one of the days she was home Mother got bored and invited everyone over. And when I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE. Chris, Chris' husband VladimirWestley, his partner MorriganBeatrix, her husband Harry, Elisabet, Oliver, Ophélie, Priscilla, Isidora, Cassidy, Brenna, Evangelina, Schuyler, and Jocelyn. It was crazy and not something one would expect to see when they got home from school.

The TV was blaring while Chris and Ophélie watched it.

Vladimir was playing drums.

Which Oliver and Libby decided to dance to...

Brenna and Evangelina each took a baby and had it for most of the evening.

Jocelyn for Brenna.

Schuyler for Evangelina.

Poor Brenna had no idea what to do with Jocelyn. I can't decide if Jocelyn was unusually fussy or if Schuyler is unusually calm but Evangelina had no trouble with him. Maybe it's because she has three younger siblings whereas Brenna is the youngest in her family?

The night ended with a quick game of pool between Isidora and Beatrix

And me hiding in my room.

And, a final picture because it amused me. Lysandra's face was stuck like this for quite a while while she was on the teen lot. I began to wonder if she'd really have rathered to just stay home.

  1. Ha, I've had sims' faces get stuck like that! You can use a pose box to reset it if you really need a picture and the sim's not cooperating.

I love the idea of a Big Brother/Little Brother (or sister) program. I'll be watching to see if that's ever implemented.

    1. Luckily I didn't need to see her face when she was stuck and it reset when I sent her home. I'm going to have to remember to put a couple pose boxes on community lots in case I need them in the future.

And we shall see if the program takes shape. If Lysandra doesn't implement one I'll tuck the idea away for a future Sim but I'm liking the idea for her so far.
